mertz replaces CajunB
After careful consideration and with full support from the team, we have decided to move up Daniel “mertz” Mertz from North Academy to our first team.
On the first team roster, Daniel will replace René “cajunb” Borg, who is moved to the bench for now.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to take a step up. This is the reason I joined North Academy and what I have been working so hard for in the last ten months. I am ready to give it my all and help North kick ass again”, said Daniel “mertz” Mertz about the chance.
Christian Sørensen, CEO of North, said that Mertz has earned his call-up through hard work:
“Daniel has been a model professional since joining us in March, and he has thoroughly impressed both me, the coaching staff and the team with his play in 2017.”
“Part of North’s philosophy is to find players with potential and mold them so they can become elite competitors.. Daniel embodies that more than anyone else, and we cannot wait to see him in action on the biggest stage”.
Sørensen also took his time to hail cajunb’s dedication and professionalism:
“I would like to thank René for his hard work and dedication in the last year for North. We know him as a consistent performer, a great teammate and a true professional, but we ultimately felt that we needed to make this decision”, he said.
The change means that North is now in a build up phase says Jonas Svendsen, Director of Esports:
“I want to make it completely clear that North is an organization that needs to win titles. We believe that mertz will help us reach that eventually, but we are also aware that the team is currently in a build up phase.”
Daniel’s first event with the team will be the IEM Katowice Closed Qualifier in the coming weekend, and his LAN-debut will be at cs_summit 2 in early February.
